The use of Artificial Turf for amenity, domestic and sports surfaces is on the increase in these modern times, for a great range of reasons. Sales have risen considerably as the technology and research and development behind the surface improves to meet the needs of the users.

Gone are the days where artificial grasses look too fake and hard. There are also much fewer risks of injury when used on a sports surface as fibres and materials have been tried and tested to produce a springier, more realistic feel. The surface is engineered just like a carpet is, with nylon fibres to produce the green tufts, and these turfs are what determine the finished style and texture of the turf. Longer grass can be manufactured for placement in gardens, for example, or for leisure areas it has become common to have shorter tufts.

Sports facilities have stepped up their installation of synthetic surfaces, as it significantly reduces their maintenance costs. Man hours are reduced as the need for cutting the grass, reseeding and putting watering schedules into place is no longer necessary. There will be no divots or bald patches like with real grass, so it will really look after itself after it has been rolled out and installed.

The longevity of a synthetic surface also makes it very appealing. As long as it is looked after with a small maintenance regime of brushing off debris, it will last for many years to come. Fake pitches outdoors never suffer from too much snow or rain like real pitches. Play can carry on in all seasons and water can simply run off, and it is even possible to install under pitch heating to melt any snow or ice.

Training areas such as baseball, tennis, golf and soccer all use synthetic surfaces for these reasons, and many of the main stadia or areas have installed synthetic or part synthetic surfaces.

Manufactured nylon lawns has become very popular in gardens as people manage busy lives. You can even select what colour grass you want to install on your lawn, or brighten up a porch or balcony if you live in an apartment. You won't have to worry about cutting, seeding or watering, just enjoy a lush green area with fibres that look just like real grass.

It is possible to enjoy a lovely, green area with realistic-looking nylon turfs without all the hassle. It is very trendy at the moment, with some people choosing to lay it inside their home or business as well as outside!

If you own a business or run an outdoor amenity area, you can use artificial turf to add character to the open space without having concerns about maintenance. Carpets can be ordered in various different sizes and lengths, so you can make an informed design choice and once it is installed, the cost of looking after it will be minimal.

There is no doubt that technology will continue to produce more realistic fake grass as the market cries out for different designs and textures. It looks great, it feels great, and there is no worry about keeping it looking tip top. It just looks after itself!
